Mindfulness?

what is mindfulness?

Mindfulness training is

Mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally,” says Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of ‘Mindful Based Stress Reduction’ . “And then I sometimes add, in the service of self-understanding and wisdom.

In our ‘day-to-day-life’ we often get carried away in thoughts and brooding.
How things turned out in the past – while we wish things would have turned out differently.
How we can control things in the future on which we have no or minor influence.
During the mindfulness training we practice to be attentive to what really is in this moment.
To realise this we use meditation-, yoga- and awareness exercises. Through these exercises we experience that our feelings, emotions and thoughts are transient.
We don’t have to let ourselves be completely swallowed up by everything that is an extension of those feelings, emotions and thoughts.

The development of that attention requires – just like the training muscles – time and effort.
That is why we ask you to attend all eight sessions and to practice half an hour per day.
